Pembroke Herb Walk
The first annual July Herb Walk in Pembroke was a success! (Held last Thursday, July 10th from 6-7 pm in the evening).
It was a great opportunity to get out and learn about some of the medicinal plants growing right in our backyard, and spend some time outside on the lovely waterfront path in Pembroke.
We covered a short distance on the accessible paved path (from where the boardwalk ends and the paved path begins, to the bridge), but we learned about many of the medicinal plants growing right in our own backyard including: linden trees, mullein, chicory, white clover, red clover, white sweet clover, plantain, St. John’s wort, motherwort, yarrow, stinging nettles, sumac, jewelweed and yellow dock.
The weather cooperated and we had a great time sharing what we knew about the plants and connecting with them.
We hope to make this an annual event!
The event was held in honour of a dear friend and mentor of Katrina’s, Dr. Anthony Godfrey, a naturopathic doctor who passed away early in May.
